With indulgence and moderation! Don't be too hard on yourself! We may all have more or less weight to lose, with a goal weight in our heads directly related to the image we have of ourselves when we look in the mirror. Don't be discouraged by setting yourself an unattainable goal: go step by step. For your efforts to have a lasting effect, they must be built up over time. Try to change your eating habits from the start so that you can maintain them in the future and stabilise the result. The best idea is to start balancing your physical expenditure and your food intake at each meal as soon as possible, without depriving yourself of the small pleasures that will help you to keep going.
With patience and moderation! There are 2 categories of body measures: • Those that are constantly changing: weight, body fat, muscle mass and body water. These help you to stay in control. Keep an eye on the water weight body measure because if you are dehydrated, the weight body measure will give you the false impression of having gone down. • Those that vary little or rather slowly: BMI, metabolic age, bone mass, subcutaneous fat and visceral fat. Equally, you should make sure you have lost body fat and not muscle mass if you want to stabilise your weight.
What is this body measure for? Keeping track of your progress! It measures your total body mass in kilos and grams. This is the only body measure that we remember exactly: like a sporting achievement. We recall an ideal weight and we try to recover it, to go back to it. Don't become obsessed with it.
How do I know how I'm getting on? By using the other body measures! Their main utility is to refine the result, to nuance your evolution, to have a finer overview of your corpulence. The weight objective is always the first one we set ourselves, but we don't see it going down quickly. The other body measures will compensate for this frustration by showing your progress more rapidly.
What can I do? Have as much indulgence as possible! The idea is to not get discouraged in advance. Set a positive trend rather than a goal that is too high: you can't go back to the weight you had at 12 years old when you are now 20, or to the weight at 20 when you are now 40. Recognising this is not the same as giving up. Take action, but don't spend your life fighting against your weight.
How can I do even better? By not going too fast! Don't step on the scale every day, otherwise the slightest rise will discourage you. Weigh yourself preferably in the morning on an empty stomach. Your weight varies according to the seasons, times and periods of your life. Consider this result with the other body measures.
How do I keep a good balance? By showing yourself love! It is between your fridge and the gym that there has to be balance. Balance is a long-term process. Adapt your intake and correct your excesses according to your efforts, the weather and the time of year: are you sedentary? sporty? is the weather cold or is there a heatwave? are you attending a festive meal, with family or friends? Make up your plate according to your real needs.
What is this body measure for? To give you a starting point! By calculating the ratio between weight and height, it estimates your body weight and gives you an overview. But the data is calculated according to an average standard. And you are not an average! This data serves as a warning: if your BMI is too high, you should take action or seek advice to stay in the right range.
How do I know how I'm getting on? By measuring your waist! Kilograms and centimetres do not tell the whole story: a strong rugby player will have a high BMI because of his muscle mass. Take into account the other body measures on the scale and measure your waistline: if it exceeds 80 cm for a woman and 94 cm for a man, don't hesitate to discuss it with your doctor to take care of your health.
What can I do? Use it well! This is a body measure that doesn't move much. You really need a big change in weight to see it move. But it tells you whether you should be careful or not, and helps you to set a health goal as well as your slimming objectives. It will also be able to tell you if you have succeeded once you're at the finish line.
How can I do even better? By forgetting about it! BMI is not a priority. It is difficult to improve quickly. You know that your body will not change overnight. It would even be dangerous to go too fast! The result will eventually improve when you have restored balance.
How do I keep a good balance? With a good dose of patience! For the BMI as for the other body measures, don't be tempted to check every day. Once a week is enough. It will be more pleasant to see them vary, even slightly - above all at the beginning. Impatience is a bad idea: if you monitor them too closely, the lack of progress will quickly become discouraging!
What is this body measure for? Knowing where you stand! The body fat index, BFI, measures the amount of fat in the whole body as a percentage of the total weight. It is highly gendered: men and women do not have the same needs. This is a result of prehistoric times when the body built up reserves in case of famine and pregnancy.
How do I know how I'm getting on? By keeping an eye on it! This is the body measure that should be monitored and compared with the others: when your total weight starts to decrease, check that it is fat you are losing and not water or muscle, while remaining within the average range so as not to disturb the body's functions.
What can I do? Bet on the future! While too much fat can be harmful to health, too little is no better. However, reducing it can minimise or prevent disorders such as high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes and certain cancers.
How can I do even better? By making the result positive! Remember that this body fat is essential for vital bodily functions: temperature regulation, absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, protection of vital organs, hormonal balance and maintenance of hormonal cycles. Eliminate only the excess and view your natural curves in a positive light.
How do I keep a good balance? By stabilising your self-image! There is the risk that this body measure will become an obsession. That would be a shame. Rebalancing excess fat and sugar on your plate and regular physical activity will help you to maintain a balance between energy intake and expenditure: this is the key to slimming that lasts.
What is this body measure for? To see what you've been trying to avoid! Love handles, cellulite, saddlebags... Whatever we call it, whatever its shape and wherever we accumulate it, this body measure evaluates the fat that bothers us: the visible fat, spread over the whole body, palpable to the touch and unsightly. The kind that we would like to photoshop and make disappear.
How do I know how I'm getting on? By trying on your swimwear! This is the moment when the scale explains the small curves you see in the mirror. It is also a body measure that highlights the unfairness between men's and women's body shapes.
What can I do? Get those lines moving! This subcutaneous fat is stored in adipocytes: fat cells that have the particularity of decreasing when they are put into motion, but never really disappear once they have settled. At the slightest relaxation of attention and effort, they fill up again.
How can I do even better? By taking charge! Mobilise the adipocytes, get them moving by massaging them just after exercise or sport to soften them and break up the dimples. Moisturize your skin after showering and if possible, massage to smooth out the skin. This is the time to call in a massage pro or try giving yourself an anti-cellulite massage.
How do I keep a good balance? By clearing out! We should avoid filling and emptying our plate so as not to fill up the fat cells and then deprive ourselves to make them disappear: we should look for volume and density rather than quantity. We can trick the eye with foods rich in water and antioxidants. Absorb them with fibre. Give preference to vegetables and fruit and limit fatty and sugary foods.
What is this body measure for? It's all about your waistline! Measuring the hidden fat stocked around your organs in the abdomen allows us to control and limit its increase. Too much of it means extra inches, inflammation and, in the long run, a risk of developing high blood pressure and cardiovascular disease.
How do I know how I'm getting on? It's easy to go over the top! With a range of 0 to 20, if the scale gives you a score of less than or equal to 6 it is good, from 7 to 11 it is acceptable, at 14 it is high and at 15 it is too high. Do you have excess visceral fat? That's a good body measure of a problem that does not immediately translate into extra centimetres. This way, you can quickly prevent the risks and take action to reduce them.
What can I do? Keep a close eye on it! This is the second most important measurement after weight. As soon as your waistline exceeds 80 cm for women and 94 cm for men, i.e. as soon you need to loosen your belt or the buttons of your jacket feel tight on your belly, your meals must be rebalanced and your intake reduced.
How can I do even better? By avoiding sugar! Reducing sugar intake, especially refined sugar, is the first step to take. A visceral fat score that is too high is a sign that your storage areas are full and that insulin resistance is looming. To do better, add crunch, volume, flavour and less sugar to your plate.
How do I keep a good balance? By choosing fibre! Continue the preventive actions and refine your figure by establishing good habits over the long term with just enough pleasure and enjoyment to keep you going: systematically add fibre from your favourite fruit, vegetables and cereals to all your meals to limit the absorption of fats.
What is this body measure for? To know if you are running dry! The adult body is made up of 60% liquid (blood, lymph, cell water, etc.) and the body does not make its own water. It needs you to drink water so it can recharge itself, regulate its temperature or evacuate its waste. If there is a lack of water, it is dehydrated. If there is too much, we speak of water retention or oedema.
How do I know how I'm getting on? It's a precious clue! Check that you are staying in the right range. When you start to lose weight, this is also the body measure to see if you have only lost water instead of what you are trying to lose in the first place: body fat.
What can I do? Drink before your cells cry for help! Ideally, drink water. Follow the example of athletes: they drink one or two sips of water every 15 to 20 minutes of effort. It's as simple as doing this every hour in small quantities.
How can I do even better? Watch your salt intake carefully! It facilitates the retention of water in the cells. In which case, they don't have what they need. Whatever your score, rehydration is essential. It's all about constantly restoring your water supply throughout the day.
How do I keep a good balance? Treat yourself! If you find water too boring, vary your drinks: add a little lemon juice to your glass of water or leave some mint leaves in your water jug. Get a small, easy-to-carry water bottle to help you keep up the effort.
What is this body measure for? Monitoring your progress! It is the true marker of physical activity. It measures all the muscles in the body, as well as the water they contain in relation to the total weight of the body: the smooth muscles form our internal walls and the striated muscles are our motor muscles. Their activity, even at rest, draws energy from fat tissue.
How do I know how I'm getting on? By seeing if its rate increases! Its upward trend indicates that the slimming process has begun, even if the weight body measure has not yet moved. This can be frustrating. Its regular variation measures the evolution of the muscle mass which increases at the expense of the fat mass. It shows that the effort is paying off!
What can I do? Keep it up! The more the rate increases, the more the figure changes. When the muscle mass has exhausted the body's available fat resources, it seeks its energy from the proteins in the muscle, hence the importance of maintaining a sufficient energy and protein intake. Be careful, if weight loss is too sudden and the muscle mass also starts to decrease, it creates an imbalance to watch out for.
How can I do even better? By behaving like great athletes! Do regular physical activity: a training session that will quickly become a good lifestyle and well-being habit. Remember to rehydrate and repair damaged muscle tissue with a balanced diet of proteins and carbohydrates. And don't forget the essential post-exercise phase: the rest phase!
How do I keep a good balance? By balancing your food! A balanced portion of protein will serve to repair and strengthen damaged tissue: protein of good organic quality, preferably animal products or the right combination of plant-based protein, with a vitamin B12 supplement. To be completed with a portion of carbohydrates, the energy source for effort, available immediately or with a slow release, long-lasting effect.
What is this body measure for? To know if you have good bones! This body measure evaluates the weight of your skeleton in your total weight. But most importantly, it reveals the variations in your bone density: this density increases until the age of 30. It then depends on a good intake of calcium and especially vitamin D, which helps to fix it on the bones.
How do I know how I'm getting on? A sign of good bone health! It gives a different range for women than for men based on weight. If you are at the lower end of the range, consult a doctor for a check-up: you may need a vitamin D supplement.
What can I do? Keep an eye on your plate! Bone density is the strength of its structure. Make sure that you always provide it with what it needs so that it does not lose density: calcium to build bone cells, vitamin D to metabolise and fix the calcium on the bones. One does not go without the other!
How can I do even better? By having the right stuff on your plate! This valuable body measure changes throughout life. In our diet, we need calcium (dairy products, green vegetables, almonds, mineral water) and vitamin D (oily fish, egg yolks). Add potassium from fruit and vegetables, magnesium from green vegetables, mineral water... and chocolate!
How do I make it last? Sunbathe! If you spend enough time in the sun, your body will synthesise some of the vitamin D you need! Enjoy oily fish, green vegetables, eggs, dairy products and mineral water, and be aware that excess alcohol, tea or coffee prevent its proper absorption.
What is this body measure for? To assess your real needs! Essential for self-awareness, it gives you a measure in kilocalories (kcal) of the amount of energy your body needs to function properly at rest, according to your age and size.
How do I know how I'm getting on? Adapt your intake to your expenditure! Calculating your physical activity level, PAL, allows you to work out your total energy requirement, i.e. how many calories you really need each day. This is a good way to stay in control.
What can I do? Behave like great athletes! The goal is to build muscle to improve your basal metabolic rate: the more muscular you are, the more energy you expend at rest.
How can I do even better? Move with more strength! As you increase your muscle mass, you increase your basal metabolic rate. Great athletes rest a lot and know that their body takes care of expending energy itself during the recovery phase.
How do I keep a good balance? By continuing your training! Consistency is key. It's not about training to only win one match. If you can make daily physical activity a habit, you've got it sorted.
What is this body measure for? It's the only age we can change in life! It tells you if you are acting your age or not, inside your body. Don't stress: it doesn't show itself on the outside! If it makes you feel younger, that's a great benefit and you can congratulate yourself. If it's making you feel a bit old, follow our advice to regain your real age.
How do I know how I'm getting on? This age won't take years to change! The result is given in years. It assesses your basal metabolic rate. It can correspond to your real age or make you seem younger. If it really does make you feel older, you can always take action to correct it!
What can I do? Move to not look your age! Regular and sustained physical activity will allow you to increase your muscle mass.
How can I do even better? Monitor your fat body measures! They are calculated on the basis of your weight and height: weight decreases, so the body measure of body fat, visceral fat and subcutaneous fat decrease. At the same time, muscle mass increases... and you get younger!
How do I make it last? Decide to keep getting younger! Whether your metabolic age is similar to your real age or not, don't reduce your efforts, keep building your muscle mass.
To connect your scale to the app, start by enabling Bluetooth on your phone (for Android, also allow the app to access location) and open the Goodvibes app. Go to "Dashboard" and then click on "+" at the top right of your screen, then "My devices". Then follow the instructions and step onto your scale.
To ensure that your scale is connected to the app, you can check that the Bluetooth symbol appears on your scale display.
For Android 6.0+ mobile phones, it is required to enable location if you want to use the Bluetooth function. The Android operating system requires the mobile phone to be searched and synchronised with the Bluetooth device. Please note that the app does not record or analyse any of your location data.
Warning: the BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) scanner requires your permission to enable location as it identifies objects that are used for geolocation. The Bluetooth function will then be disabled if you disable the location service.
You can still use your scale without the Goodvibes app, but it will only show your weight.
If you don't want to focus on your weight and want to find out your body composition and get to know your body better, download the Goodvibes app. You will then be able to see the different indicators of your body composition, follow your progress, monitor your goals and stay connected to the positive!
If the Bluetooth connection between your scale and your phone fails, first reset the scale. To do this, remove a battery from the scale for 5 seconds and then put it back in correctly.
If this still does not work, reset the Bluetooth connection: Make sure Bluetooth (and GPS for Android) is enabled on your phone and then launch the Goodvibes app. Go to "Dashboard", select "+" on the top right corner and then "My devices". Select your scale model and drag to the left to remove the device. Then reconnect your scale by pressing "+" in the top right hand corner and follow the instructions.
To ensure that your scale is connected to the app, you can check that the Bluetooth symbol appears on your scale display.
If after following the above steps the connection problems persist, you can run the "Bluetooth connection diagnostics" function. To do this, follow the instructions below: 1) Go to "My Account" and click on "Settings". 2) Then click on "Bluetooth connection diagnostics" and follow the steps.
If the problem is still not solved, do not hesitate to contact customer service by going to "My Account" then "Help" or "My Account" then "Settings" and "Customer Service".
The Goodvibes app syncs with Apple's Health app, Fitbit and Google Fit. You can sync your indicators such as your weight, body mass index or body fat (the list of indicators may vary depending on the apps) and thus find your Goodvibes measurement data in the same place as your activity data, nutrition data, etc. in these apps.
To sync your Goodvibes data with the Fitbit app, follow these steps: 1) Go to "My Account" then "Settings" and select "Fitbit". 2) Activate Fitbit and sign in to your account. 3) Select "Allow" to access the Fitbit app. 4) After logging in, all data will be synchronized with your Fitbit app. You can see your measurements both on the app and on the website.
To sync your Goodvibes data with the Apple Health app, follow these steps: 1) Go to your phone's settings and select the "Health" app. 2) Then tap on "Access to data and devices". 3) Select Goodvibes from the list of apps. 4) Finally, enable the data categories you want to sync. Once activated, you will be able to find this data directly in the Apple Health app.
To sync your Goodvibes data with the Google Fit app, follow these steps: 1) Go to "My Account" and then to "Settings" and select "Google Fit". 2) Activate Google Fit and sign in to your account. 3) When the connection is established, return to the Goodvibes app. 4) After logging in, all data will be synchronized with your Google Fit account. You will be able to see some indicators both on the app and on the website.
To add a new user, follow these steps: 1) Go to "My Account". 2) Click on "Add a user". 3) Fill in the requested information and confirm. 4) Once the new user has been created, select their profile in the app before the weighing so that the new measurements can be assigned to them.
It is possible to delete a user from the app (except for the main user which is the first user created in the app).
To delete a user, follow these steps: 1) Go to "My Account". 2) Drag the profile you wish to delete to the left and click "Delete". 3) Confirm the deletion.
Please note that any deletion of a user profile is final and all profile data is deleted.
The Goodvibes app can have an unlimited number of users. You can therefore create as many profiles as you like, the only limit being the available memory of your phone.
The scale is not able to automatically assign a measurement to a user. You must therefore select your profile on the app before weighing yourself. However, if by mistake you weigh yourself having selected a profile that was not yours, a notification will warn you of a significant difference between the measured weight and the last recorded weight associated with this profile. You can then choose not to save this measurement and weigh yourself again by selecting your profile.
By default, the app plays a sound when you have finished weighing to let you know that you can get off the scale. You can disable this sound by going to 'My Account' and then 'Settings'. Then click on "Sound" and deactivate the "Sound during weighing" option.
You can add weight and body fat goals directly in the app.
To do this, go to your "Dashboard" and click on "Weight goal" or "Body fat goal". Then drag the wheels to set your goals. Once you have confirmed, your goals will appear on your dashboard, just below your weight.
You can change your goals at any time by following the same process.
The Goodvibes app offers you the possibility to send a summary of your measurement results, as an image, to your family or friends so you can share your progress and stay motivated.
To do this, in "Dashboard", click on the "+" at the top right and select "Share". A summary screen with all your data appears. Then click on the "Share" button and select the desired sending mode (SMS, email, private messaging, social networks...) as well as the contacts with whom you want to share your measurement results.
There are 2 ways to compare your measurement data with your data from a previous date.
1) Directly from your Dashboard to compare your weight, BMI and body fat. On this main screen you can see the changes in your weight, BMI and body fat in relation to a set date. To change the date with which your last measurements will be compared, click on the comparison box. A calendar is displayed and the days on which measurements have been recorded are marked with a small purple dot. Select the day you want to compare and click on the corresponding data at the bottom of the screen. The comparison of your weight, BMI and body fat is now done from this date.
2) Using the "Data comparison" function to compare all your measurement data at a glance. From your Dashboard, click on the "+" in the top right corner and select "Data comparison". Then select the 2 dates whose data you wish to compare and click on the "Compare" button. A summary screen with the evolution of your measurements for each indicator is displayed. If you wish, you can share these evolutions with your family or friends by clicking on the "Share" icon at the top right of the screen.
You can delete the measurement data stored in the app at any time.
To do this, go to "Tracking" and click on the clock icon at the top right of the screen to open your data history. Then select the data you want to delete and click on the bin icon.
You can also delete all recorded data by clicking on "Select" from the data history. Then click on "..." at the top right and choose "Select all data". Finally, click on the bin icon at the bottom to delete all your data.
As the Goodvibes app is an offline app, no personal data is collected via the app when you create your account. All personal data that you enter when using the app remains local, in your phone, and is not communicated to us.
In addition, synchronisation of the app with third party apps such as Google Fit, Apple Health or Fitbit will only be possible at your initiative and with your consent. We will not process any personal data exchanged with these third party apps.
This mode adjusts the body composition calculation model to better match the specific body shape of high performers. You can select this mode if you have been exercising for a long time and train regularly, at least 8 hours per week. You must also be over 18 years of age.
You can activate this mode from the start when you create your profile, or later by going to "My account" and clicking on your profile.
As the Goodvibes app is an offline app, your data is only stored on your phone. So if you change phones or uninstall the app, all your Goodvibes data will be lost.
To do so, go to the "Tracking" menu, click on the small clock at the top right. Select the data you wish to export. Finally, click on the "Share" icon at the bottom left of the screen. Once the CSV file has been generated, you can share it via the communication method you wish (SMS, email, private messaging...). The exported CSV file can, for example, allow you to import your data on your computer in order to create your own tracking graphs.
Please note that it is not possible to import the contents of the CSV file into the app.
In order to function optimally, the Goodvibes app may be subject to updates. If necessary, these updates will be available on the Stores (App Store for iOS phones and Play Store for Android phones).
The app is no longer compatible on Android versions 4.4.4 or lower, because of reinforced data security.
As far as possible, we recommend that you update your device to a higher Android version or use another compatible device.
Updates will not only allow you to enjoy a richer experience with new features and compatibility with the latest technology, but will also protect you against possible security vulnerabilities that have been fixed in the latest versions.
There is no need to open the app for each weigh-in as the measurements are saved in the scale. Up to 10 different measurements can be stored in the scale.
When you want to retrieve the measurements stored in the scale, connect your phone to the scale. To do this, open the Goodvibes app, activate the Bluetooth on your phone and step on the scale. The stored measurements will be transmitted to the app, you can then associate them with the corresponding profile and you will then have access to all this data.
To perform your weighing correctly, follow these instructions: 1) Open the app and go to the "Dashboard" page. 2) Stand on your scale barefoot to perform the weighing. Position your feet slightly apart and centred on the scale so that they are in contact with the electrodes. It is also important to ensure that there is no contact between the legs (thighs, knees, calves) or between the feet. If necessary, slide a sheet of paper between your legs. 3) During the measurement, stand upright and keep still with your arms at your sides and wait until the measurement is completely finished before stepping off the scale. The measurement is complete when the progress bar disappears from your phone screen and the new measurement is displayed. 4) To reweigh, you must first wait a few seconds for the screen to turn off.
Also make sure that your scale is placed on a hard, flat surface and that it is stable. If you have moved your scale before using it, press your foot into the centre of the scale and wait for "CAL" and "0.0" to appear on the display. You can then step onto the scale.
For accurate and consistent results, we recommend that you use your scale under the same conditions and at the same time. Ideally, you should weigh yourself on an empty stomach 15 minutes after getting up, so that the water in your body is distributed to your lower limbs.
Avoid weighing yourself: • During or just after heavy physical activity. • Immediately after a shower, bath or sauna session. • When you have consumed alcohol. • When you have a fever.
To ensure proper monitoring of body composition, it is recommended to weigh yourself regularly, ideally once a week.
Always store your scale flat and do not place any objects on the platter. If you are not going to use the scale for a long time, remove the batteries.
If the scale is stored vertically with one or more feet in the air or with objects placed on the scale, the first measurement will be inaccurate. To avoid this, press down on the centre of the scale with your foot and wait until "CAL" and "0.0" appear on the screen. You can then step onto your scale.
You can only change the weight unit displayed on the scale through the app. To do this, simply go to "My Account", then "Settings", "Units" and finally "Weight unit" to select the unit of your choice (kg/lb/st). Once the unit is set, reconnect your scale with the app by stepping on it so that the update is effective.
We recommend always using new alkaline batteries (LR03 batteries), and never using saline batteries (R03 batteries) or rechargeable batteries (HR03 batteries). When changing the batteries, always replace all batteries with new alkaline batteries. This does not apply to scales using CR2032 button batteries or lithium batteries.
You can clean your scale with a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water. Do not use a metal sponge or scouring powder. Never immerse the device in water.
If, after following the instructions in the user manual, your scale still does not work, do not attempt to disassemble or repair it yourself and take it to an authorised service centre.
Start by checking that the scale is placed on a flat, hard floor (not a carpet, vinyl floor or rug).
If the scale is stored vertically with one or more feet in the air or with objects placed on the scale, the first measurement will be inaccurate. The product must be recalibrated. To do this, press down on the centre of the scale with your foot and wait until "CAL" and "0.0" appear on the display. You can then step on the scale.
Finally, try to weigh yourself always under the same conditions because during the day the weight variation can be more than 1 kg. Therefore, weigh yourself preferably in the morning, on an empty stomach, with as little clothing as possible and at least 15 minutes after waking up.
First, reset the scale by removing a battery for 5 seconds and then putting it back into the scale.
Then perform a new weighing session following the instructions below: 1) Make sure your feet are bare and clean. 2) Stand still on the scale and face the LED display with your feet positioned on the electrodes. 3) Wait approximately 15 seconds for the measurement to complete. 4) If this still does not work, try applying moisturiser to your feet and repeat the weighing. 5) If the problem persists, have another person step on the scale to check that it is working properly.
When you see the message "Lo", it means that you need to change your batteries quickly. If you have data in memory, remember to sync your scale with your phone so you don't lose it.
If the message "Err" is displayed, it means that the scale sensors have been overloaded or even damaged because the maximum capacity of your scale has been exceeded (180 kg or 440 pounds).
During the bathroom scale manufacturing calibration some variations could appeared from one scale to another. Some differences coming from these variations could appear if you compare your weight on two different bathroom scales.
The scale uses the impedance method, also known as bio-impedance. A low current is sent through your body, which easily passes through water-rich tissue (muscle, skin, etc.). On the other hand, it meets more resistance in water-poor tissues (body fat). The impedance thus obtained, coupled with equations taking into account your weight, height, sex and age, makes it possible to calculate the various values of your body composition indicators.
Children can use the scale. However, for young people under the age of 18, as they are growing and developing rapidly, the scale does not calculate their body composition. This is why some indicators are only available to people over 18 years old.
The scale is designed to be suitable for most people. However, you should not use the scale if you have a pacemaker or other medical device. This is because the scale sends a small electrical current through your body to measure your body fat, which can harm or interfere with a pacemaker (or other medical device).
As a precaution, the use of the scale is contraindicated during pregnancy due to the bio-impedance device. However, you can use the scale as long as you keep your socks on. In this way, no current will flow through your body. You will then be able to obtain your weight but none of the other indicators of your body composition.
